Behavior Interactive has announced that it has decided to cancel one of its internal projects, a game known as Project T that was meant to be a PvE co-op shooter and Dead By Daylight spin-off title. The studio announced the news through a statement posted on Twitter, where they say that the decision to cancel Project T came after the game yielded “unsatisfactory” results in their internal testing and risk assessment for the game as a commercial project. Basically, Behavior’s internal investigations told them that Project T wouldn’t be worth the investment it would take to make it – so they pulled the plug before it went any further. “When we conceptualized Project T, we wanted to have players involved in it as early as possible, which led to the creation of the Insiders Program,” the statement begins. “This approach has allowed us to get very early validation on the project’s core design and gameplay, which is something that often comes much further into the production of a game. Following the playtest in July, we ran a thorough internal risk assessment from a product and commercial perspective. While a number of players expressed appreciation for what they played, unfortunately, the outcome of this deep analysis yielded unsatisfactory results. It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that Project T has been cancelled. We want to thank you for your support throughout this journey.” Seeing projects get cancelled at very early stages is always a curious thing, because unless you were one of the playtesters you can’t know if there was actually anything worth saving about this game, yet there’s a leftover “what if” feeling to hearing the news. Hopefully, because the project was so early on the developers working on it can simply transfer over to a new project, instead of being laid off. Especially after Behavior already went though a round of layoffs earlier this year.
