NCSoft co-CEOs Taek-Jin Kim and Byung-Moo Park have confirmed that the company have had to layoff an undisclosed number of staff as part of a “broader internal reorganisation.” As reported by Yonhap, the executives claimed that NCSoft was “at risk of falling into a chronic defect company,” which would be “seriously damaging the creativity and challenging spirit that NC originally had. NCSoft previously inked a deal with Sony for a strategic global business partnership last year, after Sony and NCSoft had partnered for an MMORPG based on the Horizon franchise. The games industry has seen an unprecedented number of layoffs since 2023, something which has sadly continued well into this year and doesn’t look set to stop anytime soon.
