Following up on a report from earlier in the year, Tom Warren has clarified that PS5 Pro Enhanced does not guarantee 60 FPS, as there will still be games on the new system that run at 30 FPS. Here’s what he had to say in a post on X, noting that Sony hasn’t been ‘super clear’ about what PS5 Pro Enhanced will offer. I reported earlier this year that PS5 Pro Enhanced games doesn’t guarantee 60fps. Sony wasn’t super clear on this yesterday, but there will still be 30fps PS5 Pro Enhanced games. Warren’s comments link back to an article he published on The Verge back in April, where he revealed Sony’s plans to offer PS5 Pro Enhanced games. However, it stated at the time that the label will still accommodate other ‘scenarios that include 30 FPS games,’ meaning that 60 FPS is not guaranteed. At the time, it was suggested that PS5 Pro Enhanced games could run between 1080p and 1440p resolution at 30 FPS on the standard PS5 console, while the PS5 Pro could offer 1280p — 2160p also at 30 FPS. Developers have the option of targeting 60 FPS over 30 FPS, which the article stated may ‘qualify as a PS5 Pro Enhanced game.’ Related Content — Upcoming PS5 Games 2024: The Best PS5 Games Coming Soon As reported yesterday, Sony is hoping to have around 40 – 50 PS5 Pro Enhanced games ready for launch on November 7, 2024. Another feature of the console is its Boost Mode, which will improve the performance of more than 8,500 PS4 backwards compatible titles. The PS5 Pro will be priced at $699.99/£699.99 and does not come with a disc drive, although you still have the option of purchasing the Ultra HD Blu-ray drive for physical media.
